Annie Wan
Washington University-Digital Arts and Experimental Media PhD
Wan's phd dissertation "Mobility and Fragmentation: Beyond Site-specificity in Art" explores the notion of constructing, presenting and perceiving an artwork through its nomadic qualities and its connections between different sites and site/ context. It is structured around research background in history and discourses of site-specific art, philosophy of space and spatial practices; semiotics in space and instability between a particular space and its signified, anthropological approach towards transcendence of perception; the temporal shift in location as a mobile, yet physical entity and its significance of this relational specificity in an artwork.

Indae Hwang
Hwang's research explores the impact of aesthetics in the perception of location-based information. His work focuses on the aestheticization of artifacts, such as RFID tags, Ubisense Tags, AR Markers, and mobile devices, to connect users with digital information embedded in physical environments. By making these systems tangible and visible through their aesthetic value users are given a choice to participate in location-based information systems, becoming active rather than passive participants. Hwang is currently a PhD student in the Faculty of Art & Design at Monash University.

1927-2009. Composer, studied under Hayasaka Fumio. By recommendation of his teacher, he was added to the "Experimental Studio" in 1953. He then presented his well-known work "Calligraphy for the Piano" in 1960. After that he continued composing, working with modern music and tape music. Around the same period he also presented “Electronic Raga”, a project that created electronic sound when users touched metal terminals. In addition he was responsible for the music on various radio shows, dramas, and documentary films. From 1972 he began using magnets from broken speakers and earphones to create moving objects. He eventually showed these creations at an exhibition called "The Joy of Vibration". Since then, he exhibited at the Sony Building, Wako Ginza, the Isetan Art Museum, the Paris City Modern Art Museum, and Seville Expo'92. His piece "Susuki-Wave" is part of the permanent exhibition at the Kobe City Children's Science Museum.

Spatial Informatics Research Project
Members of this project tweak the concept of spatial information and then model the information itself, exploring not only actual space in reality, but also the peculiar space that exists around a piece of art.
Research has involved 3D modeling of a city and designing a way to experience the feel of the city through a proprietary viewer. Work is also being conducted on a graphic musical notation simulator.。
